Land of Meuse & Waal
The Land of Meuse & Waal is a charming region with a nostalgic character in the province of Gelderland. Between the winding rivers Meuse and Waal, you can find romantic farmlands, impressive dikes with picturesque dike houses and many walking and cycling routes. Several ferries connect the split pieces of land. The beautiful, traditional Dutch landscape is worth exploring.
Betuwe
North of the Land of Meuse & Waal, between the rivers Waal and Rhine, you can find the the Betuwe. This area is known for its horticulture. Fruit orchards, quaint villages, sturdy fortresses, and impressive castles characterize this region. It’s an area where cultural history, water recreation and agriculture go hand in hand. Make sure to buy some fresh fruit at the many fruit stalls on the side of the road.
